There are two types of people in this world: morning people, and non-morning people.
If you fall under the second category, then you might think that there’s nothing wrong with slapping the snooze button umpteen times, dragging yourself out of bed and spending the next hour in a half-daze, waiting to snap into life.
However, mornings set you up for the day. Play them right, and they could mean the difference between an average day, and a bloomin’ brilliant one.

Morning Energy: Unlocked
You might not believe me at the moment, but mornings have the potential to be fun, energising and productive. Try not to view mornings as stealing you from deep sleep; instead, see them as an opportunity to prep your body and mind for the day ahead.
7 Natural Energy-Boosters
Let’s take you from sleepy to supercharged! Here are 7 top tips guaranteed to deliver a natural energy boost to your mornings.
1. Real light > artificial light
Don’t be tempted to look at your phone first thing, as this triggers an unnecessary spike in cortisol (the stress hormone). Instead, draw back those curtains! Natural light tells your body it’s time to get up, and as an added bonus it also improves your mood and energy levels.
2. Move a little (benefit a lot)
Movement jumpstarts circulation and helps shake off those sluggish feels. You don’t need to commit to a full-blown workout if time’s short (or you simply can’t face it). Instead, try these:
5-5-5 routine: 5 push-ups, 5 squats, 5 lunges and a 30-second plank
40 jumping jacks / jumps (these improve circulation and strength, no equipment needed)
5-minute stroll around the garden (exercise + sunlight = double win)
These are good starting points and can be built on if you find yourself actually enjoying them. You could increase the 5-5-5 routine to a 10-10-10 (and so on), or you may want to find some 15-minute HIIT tutorials on YouTube if you feel you need some expert guidance.
3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
I’ve written it three times because it’s super important. Your body has basically been in fasting mode overnight, so it needs replenishing! Even more so if you’ve now committed to those quick-win morning workouts I mentioned above.
Water is hydrating, yes, but if you want to feel top of your game then you need to supplement with a quality electrolyte like Hydree. It’s a balanced blend of four essential electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium) that’s all-natural, sugar-free and optimally dosed.
Simply mix the tasty raspberry lemonade-flavoured powder into a drink of your choice and it will work its magic pulling more water into your cells. In turn, this will help fight fatigue and leave you feeling focused and energised for the day.
Think of Hydree as hydration’s best friend, making your water work harder.
Top tip: Take Hydree before workouts and before your morning coffee (as caffeine can lower sodium levels and lead to dehydration)
4. Fuel the right way
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a reason: it can improve energy levels and focus, help stave off sugar cravings, and even lower the risk of more serious health complications like high blood pressure and diabetes.
That said, you need to be savvy with your breakfast choices to reap these benefits. A healthy brekky combines healthy fats, protein and fibre-rich carbs, helping to stabilise blood sugar and fuel your body the right way. This could look like:
Poached eggs and spinach on wholemeal toast
Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts
Overnight oats made with chia (garnish with fruit / nuts / nut butter)
Breakfast smoothie (made with a healthy mix of ingredients like kale / mixed berries / spinach / avocado)
There are heaps of recipes available online if you’re in need of some inspo. Just watch out for the ones that contain lots of sugar-laden ingredients, as this can cause the energy spikes and crashes we’re looking to avoid.
Also think about supplementing with a quality multivitamin like the award-winning Multee. It’s a mega 40-ingredient blend with a dose of added greens, helping you smash your nutritional targets and feel your very best.
5. Brave the cold
Perhaps this one is slightly more bearable now we’re moving into spring! A cold shower in the morning has a multitude of health benefits, boosting energy levels, circulation, alertness and your overall mood.
And the good news is, you don’t need to shiver for long: you can shower normally and then turn it to cold for the final 30-60 seconds, gradually increasing this time as you master the technique. Give your mind something to focus on (other than the freezing water) by breathing in deep, controlled movements. It’ll be over before you know it.
6. Crank it up
No, not the shower temperature - I’m talking about music! There’s no doubt that music has its use in every aspect of life, from helping you to mellow you out and fall asleep, to getting you revved up for the day ahead.
Create a playlist of all your fave feel-good, high-energy songs that you can play in the background whilst you’re eating breakfast, brushing your teeth and/or getting dressed. Doing this will inspire a super positive mindset and provide an instant energy boost. So much so, you might fancy a little morning disco as your morning workout!
7. Delay your morning brew
Coffee is an absolute must for many people (myself included), but it’s best not to glug it down first thing. This is because caffeine can disrupt our body’s natural wake-up processes, whilst also raising the risk of mid-morning crashes and afternoon jitters. Adding to these, it can also cause gut issues if consumed on an empty stomach.
So, as hard as it may be, it’s best to wait 60-90 minutes before your first brew. This gives the body a chance to wake you up naturally - i.e., by raising cortisol levels and clearing adenosine (a neurotransmitter which promotes sleep).
The best thing to do is hydrate with water plus electrolytes, allowing them to work their magic before putting the kettle (or coffee machine) on.
Make Mornings Count!
Whether it’s nourishing your body with a good breakfast and electrolytes, or dancing around the kitchen as your coffee brews, these small habits will help you maximise your mornings and leave you feeling energised, focused and ready to make the most of every moment.

How do I take Hydree?
Add 1 sachet to a glass or water bottle, pour over chilled water and mix well. Natural Himalayan salt can cause a small amount of sediment, so if you’re using a bottle, just give it a quick shake before sipping.
Why are electrolytes important?
When you sweat, sleep, have a stomach bug or drink alcohol, you lose electrolytes which need to be replenished to keep you hydrated and feeling your best. That’s why water alone isn’t enough; only an electrolyte supplement can replenish essential minerals like sodium, potassium and magnesium.
